What we do...

There are 166,000 registered charities (2020) who received around £10bn in charitable donations in 2019, with an average monthly donation of £20. (*source CAF UK Giving Report 2020). A charity has to work harder than ever to get a share of wallet and we work with charities to source funding from trusts & grants, individual donors, corporate giving, fundraising appeals, CapEx projects and major donors and ensure that there is effective stewardship in place to maximise opportunities on each donor journey.

Business development is the way you identify, attract, acquire and grow new business to increase your company or charity's revenue and growth goals. Colley Raine & Associates work with our clients to develop an effective and realistic  business development strategy - for us it is not just about acquiring new business but as critically, about growing existing business.

The way a brand tells its story and communicates is critical in influencing people’s perceptions of a business or charity. In a fleeting moment, an individual can make a judgement about your values, your service and your reputation. The team works with businesses and charities to ensure that all touch-points with the “brand” reflects their values and aims and is effective in reaching out to their customer.

A capital appeal is designed to raise a sum for a capital expenditure – this could be a new building, new equipment or through a revenue appeal, to pay the staff costs critical to running a charity.
We work with charities to create campaigns to support their capital appeals. Channels can include
trusts, community funding, individual donations, legacy donations and crowdfunding.

Good Customer Relationship Management is a business changer. Delivering great service leads to a
higher client retention rate, in turn reducing costs of new client acquisition. But, and it’s a very big BUT, good CRM relies on individuals within the business or charity adopting it. We work to professionalise the approach and systems - when it comes to databases, we have seen it all …. written lists, address books, even rolodex cards!

Mistakes can happen and when they do, it is vital that you manage them with integrity and honesty. We work with businesses and charities to identify the “what if’s” and contingency planning is a
critical part of any plan we help to shape giving employees and leadership confidence in how they would handle their “worst case scenarios”.

Associate David Taylor states that we are all impacted by digital and yet according to Lloyds in 2017, 1.6 million small businesses and 100,000 charities lack even basic digital skills. Many businesses are run by Baby Boomers (aged 53-72) who don’t get technology and yet half the workforce will be Millennials (aged 19-37) by 2020. We work on client’s digital and social media strategy which is founded on six basic principles – strategy, culture, content, community, advertising and data.

The aim of the GDPR is to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches in an increasingly data-driven world that is vastly different from the time in which the 1995 Data Protection Act was
established. We take clients through a review of compliancy, audit and opportunities for lawful communication.

There is nothing more powerful than face to face engagement - people buy people so an event, be it a fundraiser or social event, can bring a brand to life in a creative way that no other channel can
deliver. We work with our clients to ensure no stone is left unturned in maximising an event’s return on
investment through good organisational skills and publicity.

Communicate through the right channel.

18% of retail sales and around 20% of charitable giving is online so replying needs to follow the same channel. However, even with the unprecedented growth in online, direct marketing is enjoying a resurgence, given its ability to measure and target directly. The DMA reported that 77% of addressed mail was opened within 28-days. We work on both very niche and large scale DM and E-campaigns for businesses and charities.
